One Geek

That last rant kind of shows how bored of studying I am. I was busy reading blogs and stumbled upon an old post by Kirsty talking about the hopelessness of trying to fight injustice in our world. That sparked my long rant about it all.

Uni

Every so often at Uni I get to have a really good conversation with someone. I get to talk about stuff I am passionate about, and stuff that interests me. It’s a nice break from the endless banal conversations that usually occur at Uni. It was really enjoyable. I should try and find myself in more of that kind of conversation. Or maybe I should just continue the policy of bare minimum time at Uni.

Uni

At uni at the momment. I am quite bored waiting for tonights lecture. I’ve got another 75min to wait. Don’t know what to do. Feeling rather tired. Hopefully tonights lecture will be a short one. I don’t think I can deal with a long lecture. I am almost falling asleep at the momment. I’ve got a bit of a cold, and having been getting to bed until late. Maybe that’s my prob.

Oh well. I might go and buy a Coke.

Uni

The draft uni exam timetable is up now for my uni. It looks like I have an exam at 9.30am on my birthday for a very hard subject(Signal Theory). WHAT A DOG!!

I am not to happy!! Until now I have avoided having exams, or even uni or school on my birthday. Guess this is the end of that.

Uni

Rushed into Uni this arvo to try and borrow my text book for a quiz(15% of the subject) that I have for Eng Management. When I was leaving home there were about 3 out of 15 copies availible. By the time I got to Uni there were none. I was dogged, since when does anyone study for engineering management. Think I might have to do some creative multiple choice and short answering tomorrow. Lot’s of fun.

Next time I might prepare for an exam more then 24 hours before it’s due to start. Oh well. I did manage to skim a couple of hundred pages of the readings book. That might just do me.

Uni

I started off today all energetic. Sent a few emails and the like, then went into Uni early and ate some Indian for lunch. There’s a new India place in the Cafeteria Jem and Chris you should try it out, they have more vege stuff then the old place.

Right now I should be in my Signal Theory lecture, but I got a call at 4.30pm from a damsel in distress. Spent about an hour and half fixing up there uni assignment. Turned out there actually wasn’t a problem with the board, just the power which is what I first suspected. What a dog wasting an hour and half on a because of a dodgy power circuit.

Anyway that drained my last bit of energy so now I am skipping the lecture and going home very soon. Maybe I should get a coke.

Uni

There is nothing quite like the brain drain of Signal Theory. Working with complex numbers, conjegects, fourier series, fourier transforms, integration, convolution, trigonementry all in one subject can be tiring. Particularly when you have done no work on the subject in four whole weeks.

It’s only an hour and a half tutorial, but it still leaves me feeling very tired. Now I’ve got to wait two and a bit hours for another lecture on the same subject. This one is going to be about transfer functions. I think leading into the laplace transform.

Oh well maybe I’ll relax for a little while and try to plan the many things I need to do in the next few weeks.

Uni

I just finished my assignment four and a bit hours early and submitted it. It is not very good quality but it’s only for 9/100 marks in the subject and I couldn’t be stuffed to spend any more time on it.
By the way how good is electronic submission? Don’t even have to move from my PC to submit my assignments. No need to print. It’s wonderful.

I am trying to be good and work on a report and do some study today. I am not doing very well. Oh well.

I have actually managed to get some Uni work done today. I don’t know what has happened. Tables are very good at filling out nothing into something of substance. They rock that way. That’s why I do Engineering and not Arts, I can fill up documents with tables and figures.

I am also in a good mood which is nice. Except I have to go and put money on my copy card. Bunch of dogs. Oh well.

I have uni work to do. I really don’t feel like it though. I’d rather do many other things with my time.

Convolution is not nearly as difficult when it is taught in a way that isn’t convoluted.

At uni today I was involved in a conversation about how bad the new timetable is. Then someone said it wasn’t all bad cause it meant that there were more females in our buildings. I found it hard to keep a straight face. Another person then went on to talk about a hot blonde in his Circuit Analysis class. I decided to bail on the conversation.

Uni hasn’t even started yet and already there is a strike. On Monday there’s a strike so it looks like I am having a 1 day at Uni next week.

I am in at Uni at the moment. I went in to lodge a variation of program(VOP) (change of subject). Went to the Engineering Admin people and they said you couldn’t lodge a VOP ’cause the 2004 forms weren’t out yet. They should be out in mid-Feb they said. Now I believe these forms are going to be different by about one character. But no they will not accept them.

They could have put something on the web site saying they weren’t accepting VOP’s but no they couldn’t be bothered. So I took a day of work and travelled all the way into the city to lodge a form they wouldn’t accept. DOGS!!

They also replaced the Sun Solaris lab with a Windows lab. I am not happy. I liked having a convient to access lab that was always empty. Oh well.
