Mr IT Officer
February 1st, 2008
Well the trip to Melbourne yesterday/today was for a job interview at TEAR Australia for the position of IT Officer. I found out this afternoon that I got the job.
It feels nice getting a job, and I am hopeful that I will be able to do good things with TEAR. I like the idea of setting up my own place, and making a bunch of new friends. I think I will learn a lot that will be helpful to any future fieldwork.
At the moment though I am feeling sad about all the people I am leaving behind. Because of my Uganda trip I only have a week left in Sydney and then I am off on that trip. I hate that being the person I want to be, acting on poverty seems to lead to me spending a lot of time away from my home, and my formative community.
Congratulations David! I am sure you were easily the best applicant for the job. Ii hope it proves to be a very satisfying job for you.
good job colleague
That’s excellent news! Sad for us because you will be leaving, but good for TEAR because they get an amazing new staff member, and great for you because it’s the start of a new adventure.
Congrats, that’s great news!!
When do you start that job??
I know the feeling about the sadness of moving away to pursue that which you´re passionate about and believe in…but if that is where God is calling, then I think that definately the pain is worthwhile…as you know!
Congratz, colleague! It will be good continuing to work with you!
David, we’ll miss you. But it all sounds very good. Andrew
I already need your help…..
What do you need Howie?
Thank you all for the kind words. I’ll really miss you all and I’ll be back to Sydney a fair bit.
