I just read about a group of parents in an Indian village trying to get all the possibly HIV positive children kicked out of their school. They think that they are a risk to their own children, which is so false. In the newspaper article the parents admitted to knowing very little about HIV. Thankfully the state education board has not headed their demands. I guess this story highlights the need for more and better HIV/AIDS and other education.
You can read more about it here.
In India a women living with HIV has been trying to sell her baby. Interestingly people were interested in buying the baby until they found out the baby had HIV. You can read more about it here.
The thing that gets me most from this story is mother-child transmission of HIV can be prevented with pretty high success rates with the correct treatments. They aren’t even that expensive.
I love visiting the TEAR office in Melbourne. It is such a nice cool place. So many deep thinkers, and people focused people.
I’ve been wondering if I should try and get a job down there, but they already have two IT guys. Perhaps they need an international information and communications technology coordinator.
I felt like Dylan in Melbourne was better then Sydney.

It’s strange knowing that a place you spent months of your life is now suffering from a major natural disaster.
Just got the following message from EHA
Continuous rains over last 5 days in Raxaul and surrounding areas have led to the hospital and staff houses being flooded again.
The hospital is over flowing with patients, being brought in with various diseases after the floods. The staff are stretched with over work and their homes under water, and are finding it difficult to work in this situation. Pray for the team.
As well as this I am reading about earthquakes in Peru killing more then 500 people.
I do get tempted to bury my head in the sand. There is a little too much suffering around the place..
Then I remember that there is also joy like Dylan and The Frames, and I start to think there is hope for the world yet..
The Frames, followed by Bob Dylan.
So good. Lovely.
Dylan is a true master. The way he reworks his songs.. So very good.

What I’ve found very interesting about Tom and Howie’s trip to Kenya is the number of cute photos of Tom that have been taken. I think this one here is a classic, but check them all out at Howie’s flickr page.
If you decide you want to date Tom after looking at the photos I’ll put in a good word for you.
P.S. Tom’s the white guy in the photo.
The floods in North India and South Asia seem to be getting very little media attention. Maybe we are over floods here in Australia or maybe I don’t read the papers. 1,550 people have died from the floods in India, over 2,000 if you include Nepal and Bangladesh.

My friends in Raxaul are requesting prayer, as the rain has started up again there. It is pretty bad. They are keeping fighting the good fight though. They now have thousands of emergency rations to hand out. I am pretty inspired by how well they seem to be doing it. It stated raining again two hours ago and if it keeps raining much of this work won’t help much. So please if you are the praying type take this next few seconds to send up a prayer.
Thanks.
Your personality type is ENFP.
Extraverted (E) 61% Introverted (I) 39%
Intuitive (N) 82% Sensing (S) 18%
Feeling (F) 90% Thinking (T) 10%
Perceiving (P) 68% Judging (J) 32%
This is my test. Seems similar to the usual ones I’ve done. However F/T are usually closer and N even stronger. I like the idea of “zany charm” in the description.
ENFPs are both “idea”-people and “people”-people, who see everyone and everything as part of an often bizarre cosmic whole. They want to both help (at least, their own definition of “help”) and be liked and admired by other people, on both an individual and a humanitarian level. They are interested in new ideas on principle, but ultimately discard most of them for one reason or another.
Social/Personal Relationships: ENFPs have a great deal of zany charm, which can ingratiate them to the more stodgy types in spite of their unconventionality. They are outgoing, fun, and genuinely like people. As SOs/mates they are warm, affectionate (l ots of PDA), and disconcertingly spontaneous. However, attention span in relationships can be short; ENFPs are easily intrigued and distracted by new friends and acquaintances, forgetting about the older ones for long stretches at a time. Less mature ENFPs may need to feel they are the center of attention all the time, to reassure them that everyone thinks they’re a wonderful and fascinating person.
ENFPs often have strong, if unconvential, convictions on various issues related to their Cosmic View. They usually try to use their social skills and contacts to persuade people gently of the rightness of these views; his sometimes results in their negle cting their nearest and dearest while flitting around trying to save the world.
Work Environment: ENFPs are pleasant, easygoing, and usually fun to work with. They come up with great ideas, and are a major asset in brainstorming sessions. Followthrough tends to be a problem, however; they tend to get bored quickly, especially if a newer, more interesting project comes along. They also tend to be procrastinators, both about meeting hard deadlines and about performing any small, uninteresting tasks that they’ve been assigned. ENFPs are at their most useful when working in a group w ith a J or two to take up the slack.ENFPs hate bureaucracy, both in principle and in practice; they will always make a point of launching one of their crusades against some aspect of it.

I love the government. Today I got an email from Tony Abbot about indigenous healthcare but I sent my original message so long ago that I have no idea what I asked him… opps.
The ALP launched a new website for the election called Kevin 07.
It has a low Google ranking, and is currently offline. It is though running an open source CMS called Joomla.
I slipped on Saturday Night and fell on my wrist. Turns out i have a Scaphoid fracture in my left wrist. It requires a cast for 6 weeks up to about my elbow.
