Ten million girls killed by parents

December 16th, 2006

In the last 20 years the government of India claims that 10 million girls have been killed by their parents. I am sure the real figures are many orders of magnitiute, particularly when you include abortions. Then there is also the slow death of just not investing in female childeren that leads to them dying young anyway.

It all makes me rather mad.

i just decided to check all the outgoing links on my blog, quickly, before i go to sleep.
you know, just to see if there’s anything new.

    but now i really wish i hadn’t.
that is just the most devastating thing to think about.\

i’m not chastising you for pointing it out, of course.
it’s just not the sort of thing one hopes to be thinking about when trying to go to sleep.

    i’m so sad now.

Yeah it is very sad. Unfortunately there are so many sad things happening in this world.

I am glad that at least being here in India I know some people who are working hard to make things better. Even better they have had some results.
