Quiet
It’s so quite in Sydney. My house is so so quite.
So I am back home now sneakily. I did manage to um, hurt myself tonight but that is covered on other blogs. It was so good to see everyone at commie dinner.
It is so beautiful. I love it. Lot’s of good laptop access points, so many shops. It’s transit heaven. So excited I will be home in about 9 hours now!!!! YAY!!!
So tired though. Flights from India seem to always suck. On the plus side saw a beautiful electrical storm in the clouds. Pretty damn cool.
Sitting here at Delhi Airport, connected through dial up through my mobile phone. There is a wifi access point but no idea where to go to buy required card. Anyway I’m looking forward to supprising everyone should be good.
It’s quite hot in the airport. Bad AC. Anyway you get that. I fell for my last scam getting into the airport, I ended up paying a guy 20 rupies to push my way through the queue at the entrance to the airport. I really hate Delhi airport.
So this is my first secret blog post which will be published after I get home. Today is Sunday and it’s 49 hours until I come home. I am planning to arrive on Tuesday Night at commie dinner unannounced supprising everyone. I am really looking forward too it.
Though I don’t like the way too keep the secret I’ve ended up decieving people. The Friday I was planning on coming home seems to be rather inconvient for people, so I am glad I’m not coming home that day. It’s funny listening to people talk about the problems they will have with it being that day and knowing it’s not an issue but being able to say anything.
Today I started packing up all my stuff and hidding my other stuff away in cupboards so that people can come and stay in my room. I have got some fun presents for weddings and birthdays and stuff, I hope customs doesn’t stop me from taking them into Australia. It’s amazing how much fits into my suitcase. Packing makes my holiday home feel really real now, and I’m excited but still a little nervous. A holiday home is a strange concept. I think my trip is too short though
.
I’ve been spending the last few days rolling out a new network at the EHA Offices in Delhi. I added a file/print server to the network on Thursday, did some more configuration on Friday, and linked the new 7th floor office with the 8th floor.
Whilst an electrician did the cable run for me I still had to put the connectors on the cables. Crimping the RJ45 connector onto the CAT6 cable was very painful and slow. I really suck at doing it, took me 20 minutes to do my first connector. I got a bit quicker by the time I was finished. Still it is my least favorite networking task. Brought me flashbacks of the 2004 workshop I ran at Duncan Hospital last time I was in India. Anyway got the networking all done, and everything seems to work.
Oh and I had an Onion Masala Dosa yesterday, that was interesting and in the evening I went out and had Mexican with Wes. Which was surprisingly good. It’s great being in Delhi food wise, though not as good as Sydney.
I have a meeting tonight which I would normally not do on a Sunday but seeing as how I am heading off so soon, I decided it was OK. It’s something about tele-medicine.
God bless Canada, tonight Wes told me a bit about curling, and some of his experience.
Very funny to hear about curling as a real sport.
They look so damn gross. A few months of 40 degree heat ain’t good for chocolate.
So good, and so wrong. Me and Wes laughed so much when watching this years Wisdom with Tabithas.
Someone did however steal the Tim Tams which would of been well and trully been melted by now.
IT ARRIVED!!!!
The package that I was sure was stolen, arived today, months late and days before my trip home. The package made me feel so special, so much thought and so much care. Thank you everyone involved, but particulary Emily.
TB is the biggest killer of women of child bearing age in India. This is above malaria, and all maternal causes of death combined.
There is a story here about a place in India where they have begun delivering condoms with the daily newspaper delivery. What a great idea, I love it. A good stigma free way to get condoms out there. I mean just imagine if most houses had a small pile of condoms stockpilled from the daily delivery, how much more likely that would make people to actually use them. They probably need some education with it, but I am sure that it is looked after by the group organising this.
