In Fifth Mountain it says even when we lose a battle God is trying to teach us something. I wish that people would realise this and try to learn as much as they can about being with people in poverty through India's struggle.

A sane response always seems so impossible. It's like the situation evokes nothing but over-reactions or platitudes. I decided it must be was because people are so attuned to resolution. We refuse to keep fighting losing battles.

Somtimes I think we just need to lose the battle as well as we can, because not everyone can choose which battles to fight and which to ignore.

That's it! Jesus would buy books! I've got to show this post to Miriam! ;)
And I'd reckon he'd be on the lookout for some seriously happening CD's by local muso's... ;)
Seriously, though, understanding is a very good step. All we have in this life, as TS Elliot said. is hints and guesses, but somehow God is present in history in a way that we can seek to understand and then follow. And he is particularly present among the poor. Is this not the story of the bible? May God reveal himself to you, may he reveal the connection between your own poverty and the poverty of the economically and politically poor, and may he show you glimpses of how he is even now weaving the redemption of both into the tapestry of his love and grace.
