Power and Communication

November 6th, 2005

I think the most interesting and important study for me at the moment is power and communication.

The effect that power has on communication. The violence and power of language. The way professional’s maintain there power using there field specific vocabulary.

And so much more..

How do we live in this world?

November 5th, 2005

This world is just so increadibly fucked up.

I just don’t know how we are meant to live in it.

So much pain.

The people dying of extreme poverty every . It’s more then I can stand. And yet still the effort of the world mainly remains at token levels.

I look at the way some people are treated here. The mentally ill, the homeless(primarly a sub-group of the former), the addicts, and then there is the Muslims and the Aboriginals.

I’ve started reading Why warriors lie down and die looking into the dark history of this country we call Australia. How Our country like so many others was founded on bloodshed.

I think about the war in Iraq.

I think about Afghanistan.

I think about the War On Terror.

I wish we would fight a war on poverty.

I am left wondering. Why?

How did we get so lost in this most enlightened of ages?

Is the world just full of evil and indifference?

Can we make a change at all?

Are we just stupid for trying?

Will there ever be equality?

Sometimes I just want to run to a place where the streets have no name.

Stumbled Upon this great site

Laughing

November 5th, 2005

I don’t think I’ve laughed as much as I just did in an age. I was talking to Ally my friend who lives in Northern Ireland and we chatted for like 30 minutes and just laughed the whole way through.

She is so fun, I only really knew her for about a month when I was in India but we had great fun. It’s odd the friendships that last. I meet so many people over in India, but I only regularly communicate with about 5 of them now.

Lonely

November 4th, 2005

Living by myself in my house is getting a bit lonely. Thankfully I have had a number of friends over during the past few weeks. Plus I’ve been pretty busy.

I went and visited Martin today. I like Martin.

It’s going to be odd having time again to do more stuff. It will be nice. I’m planning on working a four day week now. So I’ll have time to prepare for India and spending time with friends. I want to make the most of my time left in Australia.

Firefly quote

SAFFRON
In the maiden’s home, I heard talk of
men who weren’t pleased with their
brides, who…

MAL
Well I ain’t them. And don’t you
ever stand for that sort of thing.
Someone tries to kill you, you try to
kill ‘em right back. Wife or no,
you’re no one’s property to be tossed
aside. You got the right same as
anyone to live and to try to kill
people. I mean, you know. People
that are… That’s a dumb planet.

Slightly better

November 2nd, 2005

Feeling a bit better now. My temperature of 38.4 degrees is gone. Feeling a bit better now.

I think some of my CSD group is rather pissed off with me. But that’s ok. You get that sometimes.

Stress related illness

November 2nd, 2005

Well CSD has finally caught up with my body. Vomiting and diarrhea, a bit of a sore throught. It’s not good. I really need to go into uni by 2pm too. I have a presentation to do. I feel pretty bloody weak at the moment. Anyway I guess I’ll see how I feel in a few hours.
