Computer Market

Sunday, November 30th, 2003

I went to a computer market with a couple of people from Turramurra. It was good fun. They have a lot of stuff that’s relativly cheap and some cool old hardware. It’s at Westfield North Rocks. I brought myself a small usb keyboard for $19.

Bowling

Sunday, November 30th, 2003

I went bowling last night with Turramara people. It was a lot better then I thought it would be. I played 4 games. My lowest score was 39. How good a score was that, it eclipsed my previous low score of 40 something. All the other games I got in the 50’s and 60’s. After my score of 39 I decide to change tatics, I started bowling underarm like another guy Tom who was there. It’s much more fun to bowl underarmed. I liked it. Also played airhocky won 2 games out of 3.

Weddings

Sunday, November 30th, 2003

I went to a wedding at 9am yesterday morning in Whillougby. It was for a friend from Uni. The service was nice but kind of boring. I think it’s probably just that I’ve been to enough weddings now for the excitment to rub off. I think my favorite weddings have been outdoor ones. They just always seem to be much more interesting.

Got to love the fineprint

Just reading about GNU Hurd.
They talk about all the good things about Hurd and how stable it is and then
“On the negative side, the support for character devices (like sound cards) and other hardware is mostly missing. Although the POSIX interface is provided, some additional interfaces like POSIX shared memory or semaphores are still under development.”

Pretty major missing parts.. And this project was started in ‘91.

Revolution OS

Thursday, November 27th, 2003

I now own the ultimate geek DVD. Revolution OS, the documentry about Linux and free software. How cool is that? I think one day I might become an uber-geek or at least the alpha-geek.

My phone bill

Wednesday, November 26th, 2003

If I want to be redirected. How cool is that. Though it could get very annoying.

Links

Wednesday, November 26th, 2003

The best web browser ever. No pop-ups. No graphics. Just 100% pure console mode text. I think it might even have 16 colors. Who needs X? Not me. I am writting this entry on a cyrix 300Mhz media GX that I am turning into a backup server. And so cause I have connected it to the network, why not use it and blog I thought. So here I am. Wonder how many people have bloged from a console.

Tonight

Sunday, November 23rd, 2003

I went to church Tonight. It was pretty uninspiring. Hadn’t been in a month, and I don’t feel like I’ve missed much. The sermon was straight out of a Yancy book that I’ve read. It was kind of nice to be reminded of the stuff it was on the beatatudes, but I didn’t need to listen to an old guy talk about it for what felt like an hour. I still like the people there but all my conversations are really short and meaningless and I am getting a bit sick of it. I guess I’ll see what happens in the next month or so.

I went and saw Mystic River with Rob and Chris today, it was quite a good film but rather slow.

I’m a beautiful man

Saturday, November 22nd, 2003

Acording to a drunk man who caressed me on the shoulder. This happend at Hornsby with Jo Jemp and Howie while we were waiting for trains. I was catching the train to Wataria and Jo and Howie to Chatswood. The train was an express to Chatswood. Thankfully I had accidently purchased a pensioners ticket so I could get out at Chatswood. Anyway so here I am in Chatswood blogging in an internet cafe.

I am a machine

6 unique visits a day is my current average. How good is that for someone who never makes new posts.

Two Towers

Thursday, November 20th, 2003

Two Towers Extended version rocks. It adds lots of cool scenes. But best of all are the special features. They also explain why they did some of the things they did.

Exams Are Over

Wednesday, November 19th, 2003

My exams are over. So now I am watching Two Towers extendend version all 3 and a half hours of it. All up including appendicies it is over 9 hours long. But if you were to include commentries it would be over 18 hours long.

Study

Tuesday, November 18th, 2003

I have an exam tommorow night and I can’t bring myself to study for it. I don’t know but there is something about CORE subjects which makes me find it difficult to take them seriously. This subject is Engineering Economics and Finance and its a joke. It is so easy, and you get to take in the lecture notes. Other CORE subjects have included Engineering For Sustainibility, Engineering Communiction and Uncertainities and risk. You can get credits in these subjects by just handing in the assignments .

Church

Monday, November 17th, 2003

I haven’t been to church in over a month. I have been doing other things these last 4 Sundays. The first Sunday I missed I was working on hardware for a Uni project, the second I saw a film with Rob, the third I helped Gem pack, and this week I was going to go but saw a film with Rob instead.
